Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a transformative physical activity-based, positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Designed to develop and enhance girls' social, psychological, and physical competencies to navigate life experiences successfully, GOTR combines running with an interactive curriculum to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles. Throughout the program, participants engage in lessons that emphasize the importance of personal values, team building, and community connection. The curriculum is delivered by certified coaches who guide and mentor girls through a bi-weekly program leading to a celebratory 5k run. This culminating event symbolizes the girls' growth, confidence, and achievement, fostering a sense of community and completion. GOTR aims to empower girls to recognize their potential and approach life with confidence and joy regardless of athletic ability or fitness level. Beyond running, GOTR serves as a space for girls to learn about essential topics such as health, bullying, body image, and teamwork, making it a comprehensive program for developing minds, bodies, and spirits. By participating in GOTR, girls better understand who they are and what's important to them, the value of teamwork and healthy relationships, and how they can positively impact and shape the world. GOTR's mission goes beyond the finish line of the 5k, aiming to instill virtues and habits that will serve girls throughout their lives.
